Key Stage 2 is the next stage of the National Curriculum in England and is designed for children aged 7–11. During these years, pupils build upon the strong foundations established in Key Stage 1, developing greater independence, resilience and intellectual curiosity.
The curriculum continues to place a strong emphasis on English and Mathematics, with pupils refining their reading, writing and communication skills while developing fluency, reasoning and problem-solving in mathematics. Learning is enriched through a broad and balanced programme that includes Science, Humanities, Art, Design Technology and Engineering, Languages (including Thai and Mandarin), Music, Computer Science, Physical Education and Wellbeing. As pupils progress through Key Stage 2, they are encouraged to think critically, apply their knowledge in new contexts, and make meaningful connections across subjects.
A distinctive feature of Key Stage 2 is the increasing involvement of specialist teachers. While class teachers remain central to pupils’ academic and pastoral development, specialist teachers bring expertise and passion to subjects such as Music, Physical Education, Computer Science, Languages and Science.
This model enables pupils to deepen their understanding through expert subject teaching and experience a richer range of learning opportunities. Exposure to different teaching styles and specialist expertise encourages pupils to become increasingly self-directed learners, capable of applying knowledge thoughtfully, asking insightful questions and pursuing areas of particular interest. The result is a learning environment that nurtures scholarship, curiosity and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.
Learning experiences are designed to challenge and inspire pupils, encouraging them to think independently, collaborate effectively and engage thoughtfully with increasingly complex concepts. Pupils are expected to show initiative, reflect on their progress and contribute positively to the wider school community.
Key Stage 2 children have the opportunity to take part in optional clubs from 3:00pm-4:00pm.
By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils are equipped with a strong academic foundation, a sense of responsibility for their learning and the intellectual curiosity needed to flourish as they continue their educational journey.
Through leadership opportunities, performances, competitions, academic enrichment and societies, children are supported in discovering their strengths and developing their character.

Purpose-built sports areas, specialist music and performing arts spaces, dedicated art, design technology and engineering rooms provide opportunities for children to explore new interests, develop existing talents and pursue their passions.
